When you are a young child, being separated from your parent or guardian can cause a huge deal of distress — even more so if it is because you are starting school.
And as a parent, it is only natural to want to know how to balance making your child / children safe and secure, while also encouraging them to take a small amount of agency.
For any parents in County Kildare who are currently wrestling with this common dilemma, you can avail of an upcoming talk that aims to examine separation anxiety and school reluctance in children.
According to the organisers of the event, Connected Childhood, this workshop will equip parents "with practical strategies to ease separation anxiety".

The group also said that parents will gain insights into:
• Understanding your child’s experience
• Preparing for the difficult moments

• Learning to respond in a meaningful way to your child’s big emotions
• Learning effective techniques to navigate separation with confidence
'Easing Separation anxiety and reluctant school attendance' will take place in Kildare town library this Thursday, October 23, 2025.
It will commence at 6.30pm and conclude at 8pm.
The event will be free, but online registration is required.
