Five people were treated on trolleys at Naas Hospital today, having been admitted through the accident and emergency department.

St James's Hospital and Tallaght Hospital each had three patients on trolleys while Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown has four people on trolleys. The most overcrowded facility in the eastern region was St Vincent's Hospital where there were 44 patients on trolleys.

There were no patients on trolleys at Tullamore Hospital and the figure for Portlaoise was two.
