Caring for bees can be a very rewarding and mentally beneficial hobby.
In fact, research suggests that the practice of beekeeping can help to reduce stress and depression.
Given these reassuring reassuring findings, if beekeeping suddenly appealing to you, and you happen to be based in County Kildare, then you are in luck, as a beekeeping for beginners course is due to take place in County Kildare next year.
Organised by the South Kildare Beekeeping Association (SKBA), the course will service as an introduction to beekeeping.
Participants can expect "lectures, demonstrations and hands-on experience with honeybees".
The SKBA added: "Our Beekeeping Beginners Course for 2026 will be held in Athy and starts in February 2026 through to April with lectures; May through to August with Practical visits to our Association bee hives; and finishes with Honey Extraction in August 2026."
The course will begin on February 11, 2026 and will be held inside the the Church of Ireland Centre in Athy (R14 HX26).
