€80,000 funding is approved for rescue vehicle

A Wicklow-based mountain rescue team has been provided with €80,00 to buy a specialised vehicle.

The money will be spent on a first responder vehicle to “strengthen emergency work” carried out by the Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team, said Edward Timmins TD.

Some  €80,518 will be spent on a new diesel vehicle.

The volunteer organisation provides 24/7 land search and rescue for people who are  lost, missing and injured in the Wicklow area.  

Dep Timmins said the vehicle will greatly strengthen the emergency work they do in saving lives and assisting people who get into difficulty.
