Some 11 patients were treated on trolleys at Naas Hospital, having been admitted through the accident and emergency department.

The most overcrowded hospital, however, in the eastern region was St Vincent's where there were 29 patients on trolleys.

There were no patients on trolleys at Tallaght Hospital or at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.

There were no patients on trolleys at Tullamore Hospital and there was one patient on a trolley at Portlaoise Hospital.
