Kildare people can dispose of mattresses for free at forthcoming event

This initiative aims to assist households in recycling bulky items and reducing illegal dumping across County Kildare

Kildare County Council, in partnership with the Regional Waste Enforcement Office, the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, and industry partners Bord na Mona Recycling, will be holding a free waste mattress recycling event at the Silliot Hill Naas Civic Amenity Site on Sunday, September 28 next from 8:30am until 3pm.

 This initiative aims to assist households in recycling bulky items and reducing illegal dumping across County Kildare. 

Households are encouraged to take this opportunity to clear out and responsibly dispose of waste in accordance with the Circular Economy principles. 

Before bringing items to the event, households should explore alternatives to disposal.

Accepted Items: 

  • Double, single, and triple mattresses (maximum of 6 per delivery)

  • Private domestic households only

 

Not Accepted: 

  • Divans, pillows, bed frames, foot stools, couches, armchairs

  • Commercial operators

  • Charity companies

 

All other categories outside of this scheme can be recycled as usual at any Civic Amenity Site when normal service and opening hours resume.
