The evening begins with a guided tour of the night sky led by Dr Neil Trappe, showing attendees how to spot constellations and celestial objects from their own back gardens, no telescope required (though binoculars are encouraged).
The programme will then launch into the wild side of the cosmos, exploding stars, black holes, and exoplanets, with bite-sized demos and stories that bring cutting-edge astronomy to life. There will be something to spark curiosity in stargazers of every age, especially budding astronauts.
“Events like this are about inspiring wonder and showing that science is for everyone,” said organiser Dr John Regan, Department of Experimental Physics at Maynooth University. “Whether you’re a child gazing up at the stars for the first time, or an adult still captivated by the mysteries of the universe, you’ll leave with a new perspective.”
This popular event has sold out for the past three years, so early booking is strongly recommended.
