A garda who appeared as a guest on a local radio station detailed a "frightening experience" which occurred inside a County Kildare apartment.

Garda Aidan McGuane, who appeared as a guest on a programme aired by KFM on the morning of Wednesday, September 17 last, described the burglary, which occurred in North Kildare.

He told host Clem Ryan that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 11 last inside an apartment located within the Harper Hall apartment complex in Leixlip.

According to Gda McGuane, an occupant inside this apartment was asleep on the couch, and woke up to find a male standing in the same room as them. The man then proceeded to flee the apartment upon being spotted by the occupant.

"We couldn't find any signs of forced entry, and we do believe that he gained entry through the front door, which quite possibly may have been left open," Gda McGuane added.

He also said that gardaí are appealing to residents living in or around the Harper Hall area and who may have noticed the man fleeing from the complex between 4am and 5am to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this incident, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí received a report of a burglary at an apartment complex in Leixlip, County Kildare, which occurred at 4:50am on September 11, 2025.

"Nothing was reported as stolen."

The spokesperson also said that investigations are ongoing.
