Katie Taylor visits addiction treatment centre with Kildare senator

World boxing champion Katie Taylor paid a visit to Tiglin, the County Wicklow addiction treatment setting with which Sen Aubrey McCarthy is closely associated.

Ms Taylor, who grew up in a disadvantaged part of Bray, County Wicklow, spoke openly about her journey to becoming the undisputed women’s world champion.

She shared the challenges she faced as well as her successes and highlighted the importance of perseverance, discipline and faith.

She encouraged the residents to work hard, stay focused and to trust in God.

“Her message of resilience and determination deeply resonated with those in the room, many of whom are working to rebuild their lives after struggling with addiction," said Sen McCarthy.

He said Katie’s visit left a lasting impact, inspiring residents with a message of hope and belief in their own ability to overcome challenges.

“We were humbled to welcome her, her husband and family to Tiglin. Her quiet strength and powerful message uplifted everyone. Katie reminded us that recovery, like boxing, requires courage, discipline and heart.

The visit attracted media attention because of the presence of her husband. The couple married recently.

According to the Irish Independent, his name is Sean and he’s American.
