While conducting a speed checkpoint in Kildare recently, Gardaí from Naas Roads Policing Unit (#NaasRPU) observed a driver holding a mobile phone while driving.
The vehicle was stopped and a mobility check revealed the driver was serving two disqualifications – one for exceeding 12 penalty points and another for driving without insurance in 2024.
Further checks showed the driver also had three active bench warrants.
The man was arrested and charged with:
Driving without insurance
Driving without a licence
He was brought before Naas District Court where Gardaí objected to bail.
Bail was refused and he was remanded in custody to Cloverhill.

Meanwhile, yesterday (Tuesday, September 16) the Naas Roads Policing Unit carried out a high-visibility speed checkpoint on the R402 at Ardkill, Carbury.
A car was detected travelling at 105km/h in an 80km/h zone.
Further checks revealed the driver was disqualified for 8 years and had no insurance.
The driver was arrested and charged with driving without a licence or insurance. They are due to appear in court.
The vehicle was also seized.
