Teenage son 'tried to strangle mother' its alleged at Kildare court

A woman told Naas District Court that her teenage son tried to strangle her.

The woman came to court seeking protection under family law legislation and she said he is violent towards her and has beaten her up.

She said he came in through the window "without me knowing” and tried to strangle her.

She told the court that the last she knew of him he was attending college and, replying to a question from Judge Desmond Zaidan, she said she did not know if he had a place to go.

Asked about the teenager’s father, the woman said he “comes and goes" and does not stay in the house.

Judge Zaidan granted an interim barring order and adjourned the case to September 8.
