Some 10 patients were treated on trolleys at Naas Hospital today, having come in through the accident and emergency department.

The most overcrowded hospital in the eastern region was St James's Hospital in Dublin, where 23 people were without a bed.

There were no patients on trolleys at Tallaght Hospital.

Portlaoise Hospital had no patients on trolleys and neither did Tullamore Hospital.
