55 vehicles seized in one week by Kildare / Carlow gardaí
Gardaí in the Kildare / Carlow division seized a total of 55 vehicles for various offences over the seven days up to last Thursday.
The violations included no tax, no insurance, disqualified drivers and unaccompanied learners.
Meanwhile gardaí from the Naas Roads Policing Unit detected a motorist travelling at 149km/h in a 120km/h zone during a speed check on the M7 at Mayfield near Monasterevin.
Upon stopping the vehicle, further checks revealed that the car had no tax or insurance, and the driver was serving a two-year disqualification.
The motorist also failed a roadside drugs test for cocaine.
As a result, the driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized.
The motorist was charged to appear in court.
Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) were issued for additional offences.
An Garda Síochána has reminded all drivers that speeding, driving without insurance, or driving under the influence places lives at serious risk.
