Changes could be on the way for one County Kildare church, according to one planning permission application currently with Kildare County Council (KCC).

Applicant Augustine George, who is a Parish Priest based in Kilcock and Newtown Parish, wishes to make the changes to St Coca's Parish Church, which is located on Church Street in Kilcock.

The description of the application notes that permission is being sought for:

  • The construction of a single-storey limestone pastoral centre of 315 square metres to the south of the existing limestone church
  • The removal of the existing 20th century grotto
  • The removal of a section of existing boundary wall

Permission is also being sought by the applicant for all associated site development works.

In addition, the application lists the site as a Protected Structure.

The date received on the application is listed as August 29 last.

The submission-by and due dates are listed as October 2, 2025 and October 23, 2025.

The website Buildings of Ireland notes that St Coca's Parish Church was constructed between 1861 and 1867.

It also describes the building as a "detached five-bay single-and two-storey Gothic Revival Catholic church".
