Could a wave of A-list stars be on their way to County Kildare in the near-future?

Possibly, as a "demountable" film and TV studio has been proposed for one North Kildare region.

Applicant Martin Donovan is seeking permission from Kildare County Council to construct the studio at the curtilage of Killadoon House in Celbridge.

In this context, the term "demountable" refers to something (in this case, a studio) that is "capable of being removed from its mounting or setting".

Specifically, the description of the application notes that the proposed project would be "a ten-year temporary development at Killadoon Farm, a Protected Structure near the N403".

The proposal from Mr Donovan includes the demountable studio, which would stand at 12 metres high and would cover over 1,700 square metres.

Alongside this, five single-storey portable office buildings with toilets and showers are also being planned.

Other proposed works include: a new water storage and drainage systems; compacted gravel roads; a heavy-duty loading bay; and a surface water basin with a rain garden.

The application also notes: "Parking and transport have also been considered [as part of this application], with 46 car spaces (three accessible), set on a removable 'grass-crete' surface, and 68 bicycle spaces with Sheffield stands.

"Access will use the existing entrance on the north-west boundary of Killadoon Farm, with additional pedestrian and cycle access from Killadoon Lane."

The date received on the application is listed as August 22 last.

The submission-by and due dates are listed as September 25, 2025 and October 16, 2025 respectively.
