A lorry driver died and five other people were injured in a serious collision on the N7 on the Kildare/Dublin border yesterday.
The lorry overturned and two other vehicles were also involved in the collision.
Gardaí were forced to close the section of road and diverted thousands of road users.
A Garda statement said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the N7 Westbound at Rathcoole, Co. Dublin yesterday evening, Friday 22nd August 2025.
"The collision occurred at approximately 6:40pm and involved a truck and two cars.
"The male driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at Whitehall where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
"Five other individuals were taken to hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening at this time.
"The road was closed for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. It has since reopened."
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
The spokesperson added: "Any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N7 near Rathcoole between 6:30pm and 7:00pm on Friday, 22nd August 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Clondalkin Garda Station on 01 666 7600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
