Jose Felix caused a huge upset when he defeated one Ireland's hottest boxing prospects Gary Cully in May of 2023, but the Mexican has now been banned from all World Anti-Doping Code-compliant sports after testing positive for metabolites of the performance-enhancing steroid stanozolol and another banned substance, metandienone.
The fighter from Naas, Co.Kildare went into his clash with Felix holding a perfect 16-0 record, but suffered a third round TKO and his first professional career loss.
Cully took to X to put forward his feelings on the matter and allude to his previous suspicions about Felix ahead of their meeting.
This pic is taken after we fought in Dublin May 2023. Felix came in on 3 weeks notice laughing and joking with his traps touching off his ears Always had this suspicion but didn’t want to sound like a sore loser, but glad he’s proven to be a cheating rat https://t.co/ZdQozueV9u

Felix was tested in the early hours of January 28, mere hours after being defeated by Lewis Crocker in Belfast.
UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) have charged him with Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) and insisted a five-year period of ineligibility should apply with his ban commencing on April 24, 2024.
Felix had fought just last month defeating Hector Astorga Jimenez by unanimous decision in Sinaloa, Mexico.
