Consumers are being advised to check their freezers for the potentially infected batch
Consumers around the country, including in County Kildare, have been warned over the potential presence of Salmonella in a batch of Mallon's light 6-pack of sausages.
The product in question is past its use by date of 31/07/2025 but is suitable for home freezing so customers are being advised to check their freezers for the batch.
According to the notice issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, recall notices will be displayed at the point of sale and consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batch under any circumstances.
The symptoms of Salmonella are typically developed in infected people between 12 and 36 hours after the time of infection but can also occur between 6 and 72 hours.

The most common symptom is diarrhoea which in some instances can be bloody. Other symptoms can include fever, headache and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts 4-7 days.
The Food safety Authority has also warned that the diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission with the elderly, infants and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.
