Kildare GAA legend Johnny Doyle has been named to start for Allenwood in their Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championship Preliminary Round game against Clogherinkoe tonight.
The then 46 year-old retired from football in September of 2024 after Allenwood’s 5-9 to 1-13 defeat to Athy in the SFC group stage.
Speaking at the time, Doyle said: "That's it, you can't go on forever." but can you? The club stalwart has now been named in midfield alongside Rory Moran for this crucial clash.
Doyle has played at the top level for his club since 1995 and retired from inter-county action in 2014, but now looks set to continue his streak at club level to a 30th year.
