Criminal damage was caused to taxi in Kildare town last week, according to a member of An Garda Síochána (AGS).

Garda William Barry detailed the incident when he appeared on a KFM radio programme earlier this morning (August 6).

He explained that at around 11.15pm on Friday, August 1 last, a taxi driver was picking up a passenger in the town when a male passing by threw a bottle at the taxi and broke the back window of the vehicle.

Gda Barry also read out a description of the perpetrator: he is about 5 foot 8inches in height; has a big build; has short hair; was clean shaven; and wore a black tracksuit on the night of the crime.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Kildare town Garda Station on 045 527 730.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about this crime, a spokesperson for AGS replied: "Gardaí received report of a criminal damage incident that occurred to a car at approximately 11.35pm on August 1, 2025 in the Market Square in Kildare town."

They added: "Investigations are ongoing."
