The late John McCarthy
Tributes have poured in for a Kildare “true gentleman” who passed last week.
John McCarthy, The Willows, Allenwood, Kildare / Maynooth, Kildare / Clontarf, Dublin passed unexpectedly at his home with his wife Breda by his side.
John is predeceased by his brother David J. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Breda, his daughters Nicola and Naomi, his stepdaughters Louise and Clodagh, grandchildren, sons in law, brothers Gerard and Raymond, sisters Gay and Anne, brothers and sisters in law, nephews and nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Tributes paid to John on RIP.ie include: “Sincere sympathy on the death of John to wife Breda, daughters Nikki and Naomi, sons-in-law John and David, grand children , great grandson, sisters Anne and Gay, brothers Raymond and Gerard, in-laws Marion, Billy, Rita, the late Noeline’s family, nephews, nieces, stepdaughters and all who mourn him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time. We enjoyed your visits to Curry over the years A true gentleman - Anne and family have lost another beloved brother and uncle. RIP John . You will be sorely missed.”
And: “We offer our sincerest condolences to Breda, Naomi, Nicola, Louise, Clodagh, extended family and friends on the untimely death of John. He was a popular and valued member of our Shed, John was multitalented and enjoyed music, painting and gardening. He spent many hours in the Polytunnels enjoying the fruits of his labour. John was community minded and chaired the committee that introduced Allenwood Community Text Alert service. He was also active in the Willows residents association. We will miss his wit, humour and integrity. Suaimhneas Síoraí Da Anam.”
While another mourner wrote: “My dearest grandad, I miss you so much already. I felt so loved and treasured by you. I will cherish our memories together; the time you spent bouncing on my trampoline and your attempts (although they mostly failed…) to teach me piano, amongst many others. I adore you and I wish with all my heart you had gotten to meet your great-grandson Theodore, but i know you’re looking over us now. All your grandchildren are missing a piece. I will look for you and Nanna in every butterfly. Thank you for the love you gave us. Love you forever. Rest in the most wonderful peace.”
And another added: “The Deepest of Sympathy to Anne and the McCarthy family on the very sad passing of John. May he rest in peace.”
Reposing at his family home from 5pm on Wednesday concluding at 8pm with Prayers at 7pm.
House private at all other times please.
Removal by Glennon's Funeral Directors on Thursday to arrive at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold's Cross for cremation service at 2:30pm.
