The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth has revealed the number of International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) applicants (asylum seekers) currently being housed in Co Kildare.
According to recent figures, there were 575 IPAS applicants being housed in Co Kildare as of 22/6/2025.
This compares to Laois (483 IPAS applicants) and Carlow (432 IPAS applicants) for the same period.

In a report dated 27/6/2025, the Department gave a weekly breakdown of total IPAS arrivals (nationwide.)
For the week ending 22/6/2025, there were a total of 200 arrivals, an average of 29 arrivals per day.
This was broken down into Single Males: 107 (54%); Single Females: 24 (12%); Couples: 20 (10%); Children: 40 (20%); Lone Parents: 9 (4%).
In terms of nationality, the highest number (29) came from Somalia, followed by Afghanistan (24); Pakistan (24); Bangladesh (20); Nigeria (16); Georgia (14); Vietnam (10); Ukraine (8); Albania (5); and 'Other' (50).
The Department reports that IPAS accommodation occupancy has seen a sharp incline nationwide since 2021, with 7244 reported on 31/12/21, and 32,689 on 22/6/2025.
There are currently a total of 324 IPAS centres nationwide, housing a total of 32,689 IPAS applicants, of whom 9,666 are children.
