A teenager admitted stealing a €3.50 pack of Pringles from a shop in Laois.

The boy (15) pleaded guilty to stealing the packet of Pringles from Lidl in Portlaoise on July 7, 2024.

The teenager had failed to appear in court a week earlier and Judge Andrew Cody refused to issue a bench warrant due to the minor nature of the theft allegation.

“Pringlegate!” he announced when the case was called at Portlaoise District Court.

Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said there was a plea of guilty in the case.

He said an updated probation report was being compiled for the boy.

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case to Portlaoise District Court on October 16.
