It has been a very busy time for Rathangan GAA, who were proud to host the recent Regional GAA Feile (June 28), with eight teams taking part from all over Leinster.

The teams involved were Rathangan (Kildare), Sean O'Mahony's (Louth), Skerries Harps (Dublin), Longford Slashers (Longford), Kilcock (Kildare), Thomastown (Kilkenny), Seneschalstown (Meath), and O’Hanrahans (Carlow).

“It was a fantastic outing for all the young boys, giving them an opportunity to compete at a regional level, which involved 18 games of football,” said the Rathangan committee.

Unfortunately, Rathangan lost to Kilcock in the semi-final of the cup.

“We are incredibly proud of the young lads, the commitment from the players and the management was nothing short of extraordinary. Well done lads, Rathangan GAA are very proud of you all,” added the organisers.
Skerries Harps went on to win the Cup Final and Sean O’Mahony’s won the Sheild Cup.

Rathangan GAA wishes to thank all involved in ensuring a smooth and a very efficiently run GAA Feile. So many volunteers helped out in the run up to the event, from painting the clubhouse, installing new nets, surfacing the car park, setting up tents, portaloos.

On the day, a large number of volunteers helped out with food, match organisation and much more. The GAA would also like to thank local businesses who allowed parking on their premises.

“Well done, and a big thank you to all involved from the Rathangan GAA Committee. We are lucky to have a committed GAA following and a dedicated committee group who are committed to the best interests of the Rathangan GAA,” it said.

Rathangan GAA is undergoing a massive development with the addition of championship hurling grade lights, which is a substantial investment for the long term future of the club, and should be ready for September.

The astro pitch is also being revamped with a new grass surface this week, with thanks to contributions from Londis Rathangan and Bord Na Mona.

“We are approaching the stage in which have achieved our objectives and aims, and we are now planning our next development plan for the future of the Rathangan GAA.

“If you would like to be part of it please reach out to us. We are very fortunate to have a strong and hardworking committee, a lot of appreciation also has to go to previous committee’s who have helped to leave the club in a good position.

“Rathangan GAA has been punching far above our weight with lots of our members playing on county panels. This is a fantastic testament to our coaches and if you want to join us, please do either as a player or as a coach or as a volunteer, you are welcome to be part of the Rathangan GAA family,” concluded the committee.
