New street lighting for Allenwood, Kildare scheduled for this month

The installation of new street lighting on Derrymullen Road, Allenwood, Co Kildare is scheduled to begin this month, Kildare County Council has confirmed.

The exact location of the works, according to the council, is “towards the entrances of Bond Bridge Park and Cushalla housing estates”, and was funded by Local Property Tax.

The local authority was responding to a question tabled by Cathaoirleach, Cllr Brendan Wyse (FG), tabled at the July meeting of Clane-Maynooth Municipal District, held on Friday, July 4 last.

Cllr Wyse had requested a timeline for completion of the works.

In its report to Cllr Wyse, the council confirmed that a contractor has been appointed to carry out the civil and public lighting works.

Following the completion of the civil and public lighting works, the council continued, ESB Networks will complete the electrical connection to provide power to the new lights.

The council concluded by stating it estimated that the project will be delivered by “Quarter 4 2025.”
