Cllr Durkan asked: “Can the council outline what additional road safety measures can be implemented on the Celbridge Road Maynooth in the interim period with particular reference to driver feedback back signs and ramps pending a full road, footpath, and cycle lane upgrade?”
In its reply, the local authority stated it has recently installed “extensive safety improvements outside the school”, including readily identifiable school bollards and school zone road markings.
The council noted there is an existing signalised crossing close to the school entrance and traffic
calming along the route.
Repairs have also been undertaken to the drainage at a signalised crossing along the
route, and the footpath has been resurfaced by the Municipal District Office, the council confirmed.
Concluding, the council stated that “any further works” would require “planning consent and a consequent public consultation process.”
