Speed limit outside this Kildare school 'is never observed'

It's as 'busy as a regional road'

Driver clocked at insane speed in 50km/h zone in Offaly as gardaí crackdown

Safety measures are needed to address the problem of speeding motorists near a Kildare school.

A request for  additional safety measures at Rathmore National School, outside Naas, was made by Naas mayor Fintan Brett.

He told a Naas Municipal District meeting that the school is in a 60 km/h zone but “I’ve never seen it adhered to.”

He added that the road is a local route but “it’s as busy as a regional road” because of traffic travelling to and from Dublin.

Kildare County Council pointed out that significant road works in the village have been completed and “due to limited resources this request cannot be facilitated” this year.
