Multinational technology company SAP returned to the Curragh last week in order to carry out a clean-up operation.

The event, which was co-ordinated by Kildare County Council, was part of SAP's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, which aims to help local communities.

Specifically, the event took place on Wednesday, June 25 last and featured members of SAP's Green Team, which focuses on environmental issues. They also received assistance in the form of volunteers from the hospitality business Aramark, who also provided lunch for the volunteers.

A total of 12 SAP and four Aramark volunteers collected over 20 bags of litter during the clean-up.

In addition, A local Newbridge business and SAP customer, Lily O’Brien’s Chocolates, even donated some sweet treats to the volunteers as a token of gratitude.

Amanda Murphy, SAP's organiser for the event and Newbridge resident, spoke to the Leinster Leader about the importance of the clean-up: "The Curragh is a beautiful location and green space for everyone to enjoy and certainly benefits from receiving regular clean-up events, such as ours."

She added: "We are very grateful to all our volunteers. Let’s hope we can run another one next year!"

Another SAP employee and volunteer, Vanessa Donegan, also said that the event "was such a lovely way to connect — with nature, with work colleagues, dog walkers and other people out enjoying The Curragh, while also helping the community".
