Over 25 Kildare motorists were detected for 'distracted driving' on National Day of Action on Distracted Driving, held on June 25 last.
The day marked a significant National Day of Action for gardai targeting distracted driving, with a particular focus on the use of mobile phones behind the wheel.
As of the evening of June 25 2025, over 25 motorists were detected by An Garda Síochána Kildare for holding a mobile phone while driving.

All offending drivers were detected on the N7, Co Kildare.
The drivers now face a hefty €120 fine and three penalty points on their driving licences.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána Kildare said: “...this initiative isn’t just about enforcement - it’s about saving lives.
“Using your phone while driving is dangerous: it distracts you, taking your eyes - and your full attention - off the road. The consequences can be devastating. Stay safe. Stay focused. Put the phone away.”
