A member of An Garda Síochána (AGS) has said that three burglaries took place within County Kildare on Friday, June 13 last.
Garda John Joe O'Connell detailed the incidents when he appeared on a KFM radio programme on Wednesday, June 18 last.
He said that the first incident took place in Monasterevin during the early hours of the morning.
Gda O'Connell explained that McGreal's Pharmacy in the town was targeted, and that some cash and drugs which were due for disposal were stolen from the premises. Criminal damage was also caused to the building.
Regarding the second incident, he said that it took place shortly after the first burglary. He explained that there was an attempt to break into Mooney's Pub, "around 150 metres" away from the first incident.
Gda O'Connell also said that five males dressed in balaclavas were seen on CCTV getting out of a vehicle, and smashed a window in an attempt to gain entry into the premises, but they were unsuccessful in doing so.
For the third and final incident, Gda O'Connell said that this incident took place between 3.30am and 4.30am at a premises located in Celbridge.
During this crime, he said that four masked males broke into the premises and caused criminal damage.
In addition, Gda O'Connell said that there is "consideration" by AGS that all three incidents may be linked.
He concluded by urging anyone with information about the crimes to contact Monasterevin Garda Station (045 525 322), Celbridge Garda Station (01 628 8222) or the Garda Confidential Line (1800 666 111).
When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incidents in Monasterevin, a spokesperson for AGS responded: "Gardaí received report of a burglary that occurred at a business premises in Watermill Place, Monasterevin, County Kildare on Friday, June 13, 2025 that occurred at approximately 1.30am.
"Investigations are ongoing.
"Gardaí also received report of a burglary that occurred at a business premises in Main Street Monasterevin County Kildare on Friday, June 13, 2025 that occurred at approximately 2am.
"Investigations are ongoing," they concluded.
When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident in Celbridge, a separate spokesperson for AGS said: "Gardaí received a report of a burglary that occurred at approximately 3.25am on June 13, 2025 in Celbridge, County Kildare.
"Investigations are ongoing."
