Three Kildare community projects will share €166,000 in funding

Three community projects in Kildare will share €166,000 under the Community Recognition Fund. The multi-million euro investment scheme is about rewarding communities that have welcomed in people from Ukraine and other countries.

The major investment in the county will benefit projects in Monasterevin, Caragh and Rathmore.

The successful projects announced are :

  • Monasterevan GFC: Drainage and resurfacing, improvement works to community pitches - €50,000
  • Caragh Community Park Ltd:  Purchase and installation of solar lights in Caragh Community Park - €50,000
  • Rathmore Youth and Community Development Association:  Renovation and upgrades to Rathmore Community Centre - €66,000

Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries, and the Marine, Martin Heydon said of the news: “I’m delighted to see the funding allocated to Monasterevin GFC to improve the community pitches, building on the significant development work at the club in recent years, including their new walking track which I opened last August with Cllr Kevin Duffy.

“I would also like to congratulate the team at Caragh Community Park, who I know my colleague Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer worked closely with on their application, and the team at Rathmore Youth & Community Development Association who have secured funding for the improvement of their facilities, further enhancing their footprint in their communities."
