An update is being sought for a town centre renewal plan related to a region located within the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD).
The topic was brought to the attention of Kildare County Council (KCC) at the latest MD meeting, which took place on Wednesday, May 21 last.
At this meeting, Social Democrats Cllr Pat Balfe asked KCC to provide an update on "the status of the Rathangan Town Centre Renewal Plan, including details of its current implementation, any progress made to date, and whether any funding sources have been identified or applied for to support and advance the delivery of the plan".
KCC issued the following response to Cllr Balfe: "The Draft Rathangan Town Renewal Plan has commenced; a workshop has been completed, and an art competition organised through the schools.
"We currently have an estimated completion date for the plan of Q3 2025, subject to resources being available."
KCC added that applications for funding will progress once the plan is in place, "as the Town Renewal Plan will improve our marking scores when schemes are being assessed".
