Celbridge's Gerry Keegan has become latest Kildare hurler to make the GAA Team of the Week. The Kildare forward is listed in the full-forward line alongside Offaly's Charlie Mitchell and Galway's Brian Concannon with hurling stars Tony Kelly and Lee Chin named behind.
The corner-forward hit 0-3 for The Lilies against Down in their final group stage game as they reached the Joe McDonagh Cup final with a 1-26 to 1-14 win. While those three points helped plenty, the Celbridge forward was chiefly praised for his brilliant all around display in Newbridge over the weekend.
Keegan follows Cian Boran and James Burke who were named in the GAA Team of the Week in previous weeks during Kildare's excellent run of Joe McDonagh Cup match wins.
