A number of history groups are to get grants through Kildare County Council.
A total of 35 requests for funding were made under the Community Heritage Grant Scheme. These covered a number of themes which are compatible with the County Heritage Plan such as gathering data, raising awareness, dissemination of information, tourism and the creation and conservation of heritage sites or items.

Among those approved are Naas Local History Group (€1,500) Kill History Group (€500) and Sallins Local History Society (€1,500).
Meanwhile Naas Country Market is approved for €1,500 while the Oldtown Walk residents
committee is to receive €1,200. The County Kildare Archaeological Society will get €1,500.
Some 32 projects across the county will receive money and the total to be allocated is €40,525.
In each case the money is allocated for specific purposes.
Birdwatch Ireland (Kildare branch) will receive €1,200 for a tree sparrow conservation project while €1,500 is earmarked for the North Kildare Beekeepers Association’s plan for "indoor apiary training.”
The Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club will receive €1,200 towards the cost of an event to commemorate the 1903 Gordon Bennett care run.
According to KCC there is a “great variety in the proposed projects, covering a range of interests and the presence of activities across the county is very welcome.”
