Kill GAA has installed a Re-Turn machine as a part of Ireland’s Deposit Return Scheme, which launched in February, 2024 and has collected over 1 billion containers since.
As well as the environmental and sustainability impact, the machine has an option to donate to the club itself which will be put towards pitch development for the Kildare club.
The average collection rate of established EU schemes is over 90% and aims to reduce litter, waste, and protect the environment. Kill GAA's decision, which also benefits the club's own goals, could mean other busy clubs could follow suit for their betterment of their own community.
