Despite playing a vital role for the environment, insects (especially during the summer months) usually get a bad reputation — why shouldn't they get to experience comfort just like us humans?
Fortunately, for the bugs of County Kildare, they may get the relaxing break they are looking for, as a free bug hotel construction class organised by Kildare Wildlife Rescue (KWR) is due to take place later this week to coincide with Biodiversity Week 2025.
Explaining the educational class on Eventbrite, KWR said: "Come join us at KWR for a fun-filled evening for a short talk and building bug hotels!
"These little structures provide a cozy home for our insect friends and help promote biodiversity in our local area; it's a great way to get hands-on with nature and learn about the importance of supporting our bug buddies."
KWR added: "No experience necessary — just bring your enthusiasm and we'll provide the materials. Let's make a difference together."
The class will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025 at KWR's premises near Kildare town.
It will run from 7pm until 8.30pm.
Booking via Eventbrite.
This event is sponsored by Kildare town Tidy Towns.
