Kildare 4-20

Laois 1-18

The Kildare hurlers have continued their exceptional form by beating table-toppers Laois away from home. The win moves Kildare onto six points alongside Laois and Carlow with the men in white to play Down on the final day.

The Lilies had their noses in front for most of the first half, but truly came alive when it mattered most when Cathal McCabe grabbed the game's first green flag right before the break.

Kildare continued that momentum into the second half and two minutes after the restart had the game's second goal through David Qualter.

A Cathal McCabe point moments later left The Lilies with a 2-11 to 0-9 lead in the 37th minute.

A goal at either end from Charlie Dwyer and  Jack Sheridan among an even exchange of points kept Kildare well ahead.

The Lilies were nine clear coming down the home stretch when David Qualter pointed from a free on the hour mark.

The closest Brian Dowling's men got to being pegged back was three Laois points in a row after Qualter's free, which were wiped out by clinical style by Jack Sheridan for his second goal three minutes from the end.

Kildare closed out for yet another brilliant win the Joe McDonagh Cup by 4-20 to 1-18 in Laois.
