An "unusual" theft incident was relayed by a member of An Garda Síochána (AGS) based in County Kildare.

Garda David Prendergast of Naas Garda Station discussed the incident when he appeared as a guest on a KFM radio programme on Wednesday, May 14 last.

He explained that an item was stolen from a vehicle which was parked in Johnstown on Tuesday, May 13 last.

Gda Prendergast specified that the crime took place sometime between 12am and 8am in the The Green region of Johnstown Manor.

He also revealed the exact item which was stolen: the car's radio.

"This is unusual to occur these days, because most modern cars actually have built-in radios, but this was an older model," Gda Prendergast added.

He concluded by urging anyone with information about this theft to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident, a spokesperson for AGS had this to say: "Gardaí received a report of an incident of theft from a car that occurred on the morning of May 13, 2025 in Johnstown, County Kildare."

The spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing."
