Thirty students from Naas-based Carol Gleeson School of Speech and Drama had a successful day at the All-Ireland SDTOI Feis in The Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan.
They were selected from thousands of video entries received from across the country, bringing home a grand total of eighteen prizes between them.

Niamh Carey and Kate Monahan won the coveted trophy for the 15-18 Duologue competition with their extract from The Crucible, with Niamh also claiming the silver medal in the 15/16 age category solo drama competition for her portrayal of Madame Arcati from Blithe Spirit.
Kyle Ryan
Luke Ryan performed the poem The New Boy by John Walsh earning the gold medal in the mixed poetry 13/14 age competition while his brother, Kyle Ryan, gave a performance of the poem “Excuses, Excuses” by Gareth Owen winning the top spot in the boys poetry 12 final. Grace Smyth gave a portrayal of Pollyanna winning gold in the solo drama 11 category, with Fiach Fogarty achieving first place in the boys 7 poetry competition.

“The feis was a wonderful experience for the students. They made themselves, their parents and I very proud with their individual performances and the confidence they exhibited on the day,” said school owner Carol Gleeson. “The SDTOI committee did a terrific job organising the event and a lovely atmosphere was created by the contestants.”
Ms Gleeson runs speech and drama classes in the Naas GAA centre weekly for pupils between 6-17 years of age.
