Kildare County Council opens online book of condolence for Pope Francis

An online book of condolence has been opened by Kildare County Council following the death earlier this week of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

A statement issued by Kildare County Council read: “At the request of the Cathaoirleach and Elected Members of the County of Kildare, Kildare County Council have opened an online Book of Condolence to allow the citizens of Kildare to express their sympathies following the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

The online book of condolence may be found at: https://kildarecoco.ie/bookofcondolence/

All messages of sympathy will be printed and presented in a Book of Condolence to the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, The Most Reverend Denis Nulty.

The closing date for condolences is Friday, May 2 2025.

Born on December 17, 1936 in Flores, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Pope Francis (88) passed away on Monday April 21 2025.

The popular pontiff served as Pope for a total of 12 years.
