The June Fest arts festival in Newbridge, Co Kildare that celebrates community returns with forty fantastic events from Thursday May 29th to Monday June 9th.
"We've a schedule that's bursting at the seams!" said Annie Morris, June Fest chairperson. "Art, live music, drama, spoken word, dance, horse racing, magic, exhibitions, writing workshops, yoga and even some mind reading!"
"We're really celebrating the talent on our doorstep and must thank Kildare County Council, Newbridge Life Credit Union and the many many businesses and community groups in Newbridge for their support".
Venues include St Patrick's Church, the Riverbank, the Town Hall, the Linear Park, Market Square, George's Street and many more. "Newbridge has some beautiful venues. We've introduced new ones this year like Market Square which is a lovely big space".
Highlights include Newbridge Festival of Dance (Saturday May 31st, Town Hall) featuring a whole day of free dance classes and performances from dance groups from Newbridge and further afield.
Park Life (Sunday June 1st) celebrates the Liffey Linear Park, the beautiful jewel in Newbridge's crown, with a day of gorgeous events that include an art class, a performance poetry workshop, yoga, yarn bombing, the KWWSPCA's Bark in the Park and, to end the day, Speed Friending and Connection Cafe in the Town Hall.
The Bank Holiday Monday (June 2nd) will see the return of the fabulous Family Fun Day where the Main Street is packed with 50 craft and food stalls alongside carnival rides and attractions for children. Celtic Comic Con is back for more fun in the Town Hall.
The Big Weekend (June 7th & 8th, Eyre Street) sees two days of fantastic live music, song walks and more. A daytime disco, PRIDE choir, ukeleles and DJ’s. On the Sunday in Market Square Eyre Street a main stage will host Big Generator, Ciaran Wynne, Joe Skylark and Roisin McAlinden.
