An apparent water issue which can be seen outside of Newbridge Town Hall has been reported to Uisce Éireann, a Kildare county councillor has said.

Explaining the situation on his official Instagram page, Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender said: "Before the messages start flooding in (no pun intended), yes, I’m aware of what looks like a burst main or leak at the Town Hall — water flowing from the car park exit isn’t part of a new feature!

"I reported it to Irish Water [Uisce Éireann] around 8am this morning and it's currently queued for investigation. Hopefully it’ll be sorted before we all need to break out the canoes.

"Will keep an eye on it and update if I hear more!"

He further said: "I'm informed it's been like that since Saturday but I only became aware of it this morning and reported it as soon as I knew.

"Just for future if you ever see anything like this don't assume someone has reported it and either report it to Uisce Éireann yourself or feel free to give me the heads up and I'll report it for you."
