Newbridge Parishes Community Raceday returns to Curragh in Kildare on Easter Monday

Newbridge Parishes Community Raceday, a very popular and fun family day in the racing calendar, will return to The Curragh this year on May Bank Holiday Monday.

 

Almost €600,000 has been raised since the Newbridge Parishes Community Raceday was launched 36 years ago, with funds distributed directly to community-based projects in St Conleth’s and Church of Ireland Parishes. 

 

There will be a variety of free family entertainment throughout the afternoon in the Moyglare Kids Zone. This year’s race day will celebrate our local sporting heroes and will feature exhibition games by children from various local sports clubs including Newbridge Athletics Club, Moorefield GAA, Sarsfield GAA, Newbridge Rugby Club, Cill Dara Rugby Club, Newbridge Town FC and Celtic FC will also take place between races on the racetrack.  Performances from local Dance groups will take place on stage Champions Hall.

 

Newbridge Parish Priest, Fr Ruairí O’Domhnaill, commented: “This is a very special day for our Parishes, which raises much needed funds for various projects within our community. We would like to thank the Curragh for their continued support, and we hope that everyone will join us on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5, for what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable day with lots of entertainment for all the family.”

 

Church of Ireland Reverend Isobel Jackson commented: “We are delighted that The Curragh continues to generously host the annual Newbridge Parishes Raceday, which makes a significant contribution to the Church.  It allows us to come together as a community to celebrate and support each other.”

 

The Coolmore Stud Mooresbridge Stakes (Group 2) is the feature race of an eight-race card. The Keadeen Hotel, PG Duffy & Sons Citroen, and The Treacy Group are sponsoring races on the day. Gates open at 12 noon, with the first race at 1.15 pm.

 

Tickets are now on sale for a fund-raising raffle to support worthy projects in the Parish are on sale after masses this week and from the Parish Centre in Newbridge, while they will also be available to purchase on the race day. Raffle prizes include: Dinner and B&B from Barberstown Castle, A €500 voucher from Newbridge Travel, A €400 One4All voucher and LOTS more

 

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.curragh.ie . Under 18s go free to this event when accompanied by an adult.
