Shock and sadness as Kildare woman dies in New York

Delia Kenny is a native of Athy, Co Kildare

Delia made her home in the United States for many years

The death has occurred of Delia Kenny (née Carbery), a native of Athy, Co. Kildare, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, in Queens, New York.

Delia, who had made her home in the United States for many years, is fondly remembered by family and friends on both sides of the Atlantic.

A beloved wife, Delia is survived by her devoted husband John, with whom she shared a lifetime of companionship and friendship.

She was predeceased by her brother Joseph, and is mourned by her extended family, including in-laws Chris Ahearne (Roscrea), Teresa Castle (England), Peter Kenny (Waterford), Timmy Kenny (Ferbane), and Gerry Kenny (Sligo).

Delia will be especially missed by her cousin Anne Healy and Anne’s daughter Colleen, both in the USA, who were lifelong friends to both Delia and John. Their steadfast love and support were a constant comfort, especially in recent years.

A woman known for her warmth, kindness, and enduring friendships, Delia also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbours, and friends in Ireland and the U.S. who will remember her with great affection.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
