A motion submitted by a councillor at a recent Kildare County Council (KCC) meeting concerned the potential installation of a new bus stop in the west of the county.
Fianna Fáil Cllr Brian O'Loughlin asked KCC about the potential installation when he appeared at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which was held yesterday (April 16 last).
He specifically motioned for KCC to install the bus stop on Bridge Street in Rathangan.
Cllr O'Loughlin's motion found support in Fine Gael Cllr Kevin Duffy, who is also the Cathaoirleach of the County of Kildare. Cllr Duffy also told KCC that while he accepts that the council has a limited budget, he suggested that the matter be "earmarked" by KCC for consideration in 2026.

In response to his motion, KCC said via its report at the meeting that its Sustainable Transport Team are "currently assessing" the feasibility of relocating the bus stop in Rathangan, in order to "facilitate existing bus services along with future planned routes".
"It would be premature to install a bus shelter at an existing stop in Rathangan at this stage," KCC added.
