An apparent discrepancy in the timeline for Celbridge waterworks in Kildare has been questioned by Aidan Farrelly TD.
Long awaited and much needed water mains replacement works for Celbridge have been announced by Uisce Eireann to start in the Autumn of this year.
However on April 3 last in the Dáil these works were flagged for a Quarter 2 start to Deputy Farrelly by Minister of State for Local Government, Christopher O’Sullivan.
Reacting to the Uisce Eireann announcement Deputy Farrelly said: “While I welcome this news, having raised it in the Dáil on foot of dozens of emails from constituents in Celbridge, particularly in the Primrose Gate and Hazelhatch Park areas, so I must question the timelines here.
“The Minister is on the record stating construction is due to commence in quarter 2 of this year. Uisce Eireann are now out saying it will be in quarter 3.
“I have a real concern in relation if these plans will be delivered this year at all.
“I have asked both parties to clarify their statements in the interest of the community, businesses and industry that are serviced by this supply.
“We need certainty and confidence in our water supply, and I don’t believe that is being delivered at this time.”
