Kildare County Council no longer provides dog waste bags
Another appeal has been made to Kildare residents to clean up after their dogs use public areas as a toilet.
Two years ago KCC organised a schools poster competition, won by a pupil at Rathmore National School, near Naas, which had entrants design a poster with the theme of urging dog owners to clean up.

The council has copies of this poster in the form of a sign with the message “No Pooh on the Shoe” available.
Kildare County Council official Marian Higgins told a KCC meeting that he council will look into running a fresh competition during the course of the next 12/18 months, or earlier if possible - “subject to work programme considerations and funding availability.”
Ms Higgins said education is the key but it is also up to everybody to act properly and “not to leave a trace behind.”
Ms Higgins told the meeting that it is a significant undertaking, given the number of schools in the county.
Cllr Chris Pender highlighted the particular plights of people using a wheelchair or who have a disability, who are exposed to a serious health risk when a wheel comes into contact with dog faeces.
He told the meeting that any future competition should take account of this.
Cllr Fintan Brett said the newly opened Kerdiffstown Park recreation and amenity centre in Naas is already seeing the results of people not cleaning up after their dogs.
Worse still, he said, is when visitors to a public place gather up the dog dirt in a bag and simply throw it anywhere but into a bin.
