€500k extension of south Kildare school is planned
A significant investment of €583,000 has been announced for the proposed expansion of St. Catherine of Siena National School, bringing much-needed new facilities to the growing school community in Curragh Camp in Co Kildare.
The planned development includes the construction of a 395-square-metre single-storey extension to the front and side of the existing school building, which currently spans 1,418 square metres.
Central to the project is the addition of a two-classroom Special Education Unit, aimed at enhancing the school’s capacity to support children with special educational needs in an inclusive environment.
The extension also features a secure outdoor soft play area, a sensory garden, and six additional parking spaces to accommodate staff and visitors.
Minor internal alterations to the current structure will also be carried out, alongside site improvements, including the removal and blocking up of an existing recessed entrance.
