Gardaí in County Kildare are probing the attempted theft of a vehicle in Leixlip.
In addition, criminal damage was caused to the vehicle by the perpetrator(s).
That's all according to Garda David Prendergast of Naas Garda Station, who discussed the incident when he appeared on a KFM radio programme yesterday morning (April 2 last).
Gda Prendergast explained that the incident took place in the Castletown estate on Wednesday, March 26 last, sometime between 12am and 1am.
He also said that the vehicle in question was a silver Toyota Vitz car.
"Damage was caused to the driver's door [by the perpetrator or perpetrators] in gaining entry, and the ignition bar was also damaged in what was obviously an attempt to start the car," Gda Prendergast added.
Lastly, he appealed for anyone with information about this crime to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.
When asked by the Leinster Leader about the incident, a garda spokesperson responded: "Gardaí received a report of the attempted theft of a car that occurred at a premises in Leixlip, County Kildare at approximately 1am on March 26, 2025."
"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson added.
