18 motorists caught driving under the influence in Kildare in past week

Gardai in Kildare have warned about the dangers of drink/drug driving on our roads.

According to gardai, driving under the influence remains a serious concern in Kildare.

In the past week, An Garda Síochána Kildare have arrested 18 motorists for driving under the the influence of alcohol and drugs.

A learner permit holder in Maynooth was recently arrested after testing positive for cannabis.

The driver also had no tax, insurance or NCT on their vehicle.

Another learner permit holder was stopped in Carbury. This driver was found to have no insurance or tax and tested positive for cannabis also.

An Garda Síochaná Kildare have said these incidents underscore the importance of road safety and its ongoing efforts to combat this issue.

They stated: “Drink and Drug Driving is never worth the risk. One choice can lead to devastating consequences not just for you but for innocent lives on the roads.”
